Abraham Schopen

September 15, 1951 — November 30, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Abe Schopen. He passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by loved ones.

Born and raised in Deadwood, South Dakota, Abe was a man of many passions. He was an avid golfer, an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and was a skilled athlete in his younger years. But above all, he cherished spending time with his family. He initiated countless family traditions, from fantasy football leagues to the annual Schopen non-open golf tournament, bringing joy and laughter to all who participated.

Abe's professional career as an IT Project Manager at the phone company spanned many years. He was known for his kind heart, analytical mind and willingness to mentor others. His thoughtful nature and generous spirit touched the lives of countless colleagues and friends.

In recent years, Abe and his partner Beth, embarked on several adventures, including trips to Greece, Israel and Germany. These travels allowed him to explore his ancestral roots and create lasting memories. He also enjoyed returning to his hometown of Deadwood, where he spent time golfing, fishing, and sharing stories with loved ones.

Abe is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law; Jody and Rick, Heather and Scott, Amanda and Jeff; his grandchildren and spouses; Kolten and Leah, Paul and Jenna, Rachael and Jesse, and Lexus and Phillip; and his great-grandchildren; Mason, Noah, Kruz, Kreed, Ryan, Connell, Kendrix, Marcus and Mia along with his partner Beth as well as his 4th and favorite daughter his dog, Lucy Lou.

A celebration of life will be held from 3:00pm- 6:00 pm. Friday, December 6, 2024 at Monolithic Brewing, 4915 N 120th St #102, Omaha, NE 68164.

We look forward to hearing all of your stories about Abe via Facebook, on the Good Shepherd guest book below or in person.
