Alexa Catherine Moen, our beloved, free spirited, sweet girl, passed away on October 24, 2024, at the age of 8. Born on June 21, 2016, Alexa brightened every space she entered with her sparkling blue eyes, big smile and blonde hair. Her spunky attitude and stubborn drive made it clear she was a leader from the start.
Alexa cherished nature and could often be found collecting tiny treasures to build her fairy garden and catching roly-polies. She loved all birds, especially flamingos. Some of her happiest moments were spent playing at the cabin on the Platte River and Green Lake, exploring with a wonder that was uniquely her own. She adored music and was a natural performer, often hosting family concerts with a playlist as diverse as her talents. Alexa also shined on stage at the local theater, performing in Finding Nemo and Aladdin, and was eagerly preparing for her role in Willy Wonka.
In her short eight years, Alexa spread immense joy to everyone she met, leaving a lasting impact as a daughter, big sister, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, cousin, niece, friend, and best friend to her dog, Rex. Alexa will forever live in our memories, not only through the happiness she brought to all, but also through the precious gift of life she has given to others.
Alexa is survived by her parents, Shawn and Maria Moen; her beloved little brother, Liam; her grandparents, Deborah and Robert Shimerdla, and Byron and Gail Moen; her great-grandmother Mary D. Brunow; her aunts and uncles Michaela (Andrew) Synhorst, Matt (Kamie) Moen, and Jason (Lisa) Moen; as well as her cousins, Kyle, Keegan, Kady, Caroline (CC), Connor and Caroline and many other family members who will hold her memory close to their hearts.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
