Alonzo Stevenson was born on January 24, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Mr. John and Gladys Grayson. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Montclair Nursing Home on October 17, 2017. Alonzo gave her life to Christ at an early age and attended Salem Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian, beginning and ending her days in prayer and praise. She met the love of her life, Clarence Prator, in 1963 and they raised 5 children together until the Lord called him home in 2014. Alonzo was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She touched many lives with her generosity, her smile, and singing although unable to hold a "note" we enjoyed listening to her. Her favorite hobbies were to draw and paint. She could put together any puzzle whether 300 or 3000 pieces. We will miss her gift of patience, her willingness to help others, her sweet laugh and most of all, her contagious smile. She reunites in Heaven with her parents, John and Gladys Grayson; brothers, Richard Thomas and Cleveland Thomas; sisters, Lillian Thomas and Rosalee Harris; her lifetime partner, Clarence Prator; and their daughter, Luezenia Stevenson. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: brothers William Grayson of Tulsa, OK and John Grayson of Las Vegas, NV; sister Johnnie Brown of Tulsa, OK; sons, Lesure (Donna) Stevenson and Cleveland (Thayada) Stevenson, both of Omaha, NE; daughters, Renae (Alvin) Walker of VA and Tatcelia (Gerald) Stevenson of Omaha, NE. Alonzo has 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that will also cherish her memories.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her grandson Allen Stevenson who remained at her side every day until the Lord called her home.
