Alysa M. Choquette

August 10, 1976 — October 21, 2024

Papillion

Alysa Marie Choquette, born to Judy LaMontagne and Bruce Smith August 10, 1976 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, fought valiantly against stomach cancer, being freed from her struggle on October 21st, 2024 peacefully in the night at her home in Papillion, NE.

Raised in Littleton, CO and settled in Nebraska, Alysa dedicated her life to supporting others. Her unbridled creativity and gift for words led her to be a lovable and effective leader at Unity of Omaha, where she served on the board as President and as the Youth Director. Her skills in connecting and working with children continued as the Director of Community for Brain Balance of West Omaha. But no job exemplified her work with children best as the raising of her children. Alysa's children received many of her best qualities, from Caylin's care and calling to teach children, to Kyler's kindness and aptitude for sending smiles around each room he enters, and Keaton's quirky humor and calm but energizing presence. Her children are fun, loving, imaginative, smart, and creative in their own unique ways. They are easy to talk to and supportive of their friends and the world around them. Her memory lives forever in their words and actions.

It is impossible to perfectly describe the positivity Alysa brought into the world. She had a seemingly endless supply of optimism, joy, hope, patience, humor, and strength even in her most challenging moments. Her brilliant mind in company with her emotional attunement made her a favorite human of all she encountered. A lover of travel, food, and crude humor, Alysa lived every moment with intention and in connection with the spirit that surrounded her. She will live forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband Ryan Choquette, her three children, Caylin, Kyler, and Keaton Choquette, her parents and their spouses, her brother Matthew (Alexis) Smith, and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family of Alysa requests donations be made in her name to Unity of Omaha. Her Celebration of Life will occur on Saturday, October 26th at 4:00pm at Unity of Omaha.
