Andrew Jackson

February 1, 1942 — March 8, 2024

Andrew Lee Jackson was born February 1, 1942,in Lorman, Mississippi to Caroline and Andrew Jackson. He was one of ten children. As a young man, after relocating to Omaha, Nebraska, Andrew held various positions, i.e., shoe shiner, golf caddy, pool player, business man, and construction worker. Finally, he found his niche with the Laborers Local #1140 where he worked for over 50 years until he retired. Andrew met the love of his life, Glory Dean Jackson, in 1966.Andrew loved Glory and their children, and he would often brag about being the head of his household. Even though he joked, "As long as I owe you, you'll never be broke ,"Andrew loved being able to provide for his family, and he built a beautiful and secure life with Glory in their 58 years together. Andrew was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Andrew dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized on December 28, 2002. He remained a faithful servant at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses until the day he fell asleep in death. He loved sharing The Word, often quoting one of his favorite scriptures, Revelation 21:3,4. He will be remembered for his love of Jehovah and his family. Full of knowledge and wisdom, Andrew could refer you to the mechanic, electrician, tree trimmer, roofer, or whatever you needed fixed, he knew someone who knew how to do it! He was always willing to help others when he could. Let’s just say “Andrew was the plug.” His infectious laughter and smile, and his comical mannerisms were unforgettable. Andrew’s presence lit up every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression with his sarcastic, but unique humor. He was always smiling and cracking jokes. You could never talk to Andrew without smiling or laughing. His aura was truly one-of-a-kind. Andrew (AKA, BayBay) loved to play dominoes, spades, tonk, and biz whiz. Yes, he was the dominoes and spades champion and he did not play with amateurs – his words! Andrew loved to have a good time with family and friends, along with some good, southern, down-home cooking. Thegathering of the family was very important to him. Don’t let “Troubled Man” by Marvin Gaye come on because he would get on the dance floor and sit the whole room down! Andrew was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline Jackson; father, Andrew Jackson; sons, Ervin Jackson and Tony Hadley; daughters, Andrea Jackson and Valerie Jackson; brothers, Tip Jackson, Daniel Jackson, and Myron Jackson; and sister, Lucille Perry. Andrew is survived by his beautiful, devoted wife, Glory Dean Jackson; sons, Tyrone (Cheryl) Cokes of Lincoln, NE, Jerome (Monica) Williams, Andre (Crystal) Jackson, Robert(Ebony) Jackson, D’Andre (Brynn) Jackson, Anthony Jackson, Andrew K.
