Ann Marie Rourke passed away on the evening of April 7th, 2023. She died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family.
Ann Scholz was born October 12th, 1948 to Paul and Sally Scholz in Grand Island, Nebraska. They moved to Omaha shortly after, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Ann graduated from Cathedral High School, Class of 1966 and then attended Mary Mount College in Salina Kansas, graduating in 1970.
She married Dennis Rourke on Aug 20th, 1971. A year later, they traveled Europe for 4 months, and then settled down to have son, Sean and daughter, Shannon. Ann got into magic with her husband, and together, they performed all across the Midwest for over 40 years.
Ann also performed as Gumdrop the Magic Clown, entertaining at children's birthday parties all over town. She was an active member of the Omaha Magic Society, Omaha Wild Clown Dum and Omaha Juggling Club.
In her professional life, Ann was a fundraiser for Sacred Heart School for 26 years, raising money for the education of countless elementary school kids. Later, she raised money for the Omaha Food Bank to alleviate food insecurity for families across the Heartland.
She was a member of Kiwanis, and the American Society for Fundraising Professionals.
She retired in 2019 at the age of 70, threw on a backpack and traveled around the world with her husband for four months, visiting 14 countries.
She is survived by her husband Dennis, her son Sean and daughter-in-law Mary Frances Person, daughter Shannon and son-in-law Bruno Hervieux, and grandkids Gaston and Faye Hervieux.
