Arlene Nelson was born in Terry, Arkansas in 1930 to Wardell and Ettie Belle Jackson.
While growing up she worked on her family farm, for her grandfather, Bud York. She became a young wife and married James Nelson in her mothers home. She moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1952.
Arlene was an active member of St Matthews Baptist Church where she sat on the Mother Board. In 1953 she started classes to become an LPN and worked for Clarkson hospital until she became pregnant. She then became a stay at home mother, working part time for a nice Jewish woman.
Arlene was preceded in death by her children, JoNathan Nelson, James Nelson Jr, Ruby Nelson, Charlotte Nelson, and Delores White.
She became a devoted mother of 8; and leaves to cherish her memory, three remaining children, Jolean McIntosh, Marilyn Nelson and Richard Nelson and a stepmother to the Hadley children. Arlene is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, special friend Patricia Stadamire, and a host of other extended family and friends.
