Barbara Ann McLemore was born to Bennie Sr. and Lillie Mae Williams on March 12, 1952 in Fort Bragg, NC and was raised in Cleveland, OH.
Barbara loved to learn; having completed an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters in Business Management, and a second Masters in Leadership. She was no stranger to hard work, always maintaining at least 2 jobs. Over the years, she worked for Kraft Foods, Campbell Soup, and Frito-Lay, Inc. She dedicated 20 years of service working for the State of Nebraska and State of Iowa as an Unemployment Specialist, retiring in 2014. However, it wasnt long before she was back in the workforce. Not wanting to spend her days sitting idly and having a passion for helping others, she spent the last 7 years of her of life working for DeFreese Manor Senior Apartments as their Service Coordinator. The Residents of the facility expressed wholehearted gratitude and appreciation for the warmth, kindness, and patience that Barbara showed them as she helped them to navigate and understand their benefits, and even went above and beyond to ensure they were not being cheated or scammed, simply because of their age.
Barbara loved to celebrate life and bring people together. Although she shared her life with Gean Smith and Raymond Pierce. In the summer of 1999, she met Gerald McLemore and the two of them became instantly connected. On June 16, 2000 they joined together as one. And for the next 20 years would be joined in heart, mind, and Spirit. Always making one another smile, always praying together, witnessing together, singing together in the choir and not wanting to be without each other, departed this life together.
Barbara leaves to cherish and celebrate her life to her: Daughter Kristina Young (Dennis) of Omaha, NE, Son Kirt Smith (Desiree) of Dover, DE. Grandchildren: DeSean Young-Dennis (Tommy) of Omaha, NE, Jai Smith and Jayna Smith of Dover, DE. And one Great Grandson who affectionately called her Big Mama JayCeon Foster.
