Calvin Jackson

Calvin H. Jackson, age 64, passed away on December 29, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Calvin, known to many as “Kevin,” was born on May 10, 1960, in Omaha to Samuel Benjamin Jackson and Vergie Mary Hunter-Jackson. He was the beloved youngest of eleven children. His father, Samuel, was born in Prescott, Arkansas, and his mother, Vergie, was born in Hope, Arkansas. The Jackson family relocated to Omaha in 1950. Calvin attended Tech High School and later served in the United States Marine Corps.

In 2008, Calvin experienced a profound spiritual renewal, being baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church on November 30. His faith was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed singing in the church choir.

On June 10, 2010, Calvin married Barbara Jackson, and the two built a loving life together in Omaha. They were active members of Christ Community Church. Calvin was a man of deep compassion, known for his generosity and his selfless care of his mother-in-law in her later years. His infectious smile and playful sense of humor could light up any room. He had a passion for sports, particularly Husker football, and loved sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. He was also known for his tender affection for his nieces and nephews, often expressing his love with a gentle kiss on their foreheads.

Calvin is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Jackson; sisters: Julie (Chris) Johnson of Bellevue, NE, Yvonne Merritt of Omaha, NE, Vickie Jackson of Kansas City, MO, Vereena Jackson of Omaha, NE, and Pamela Jackson of Omaha, NE; stepchildren: Jeff (Michele) Jones of Belle Fourche, SD, Mike (Sara) Jones of Council Bluffs, IA; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Vergie Jackson; four brothers, Benjamin Jackson, Samuel Keith Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Baby Jackson; and one sister, Diane Jackson.

A celebration of Calvin's life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 10:00 AM for visitation, followed by an 11:00 AM service.
