We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Carol Sue Taylor, our matriarch, our boss, our EVERYTHING! Carol was born February 13, 1949 in Des Moines, IA. Carol passed away on July 29, 2022 in Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her Grandmother Queen Taylor, Grandfather Harry Taylor, Uncle Harry Taylor, Mother, Charlotte V. Taylor and Husband, Richard Stanford, Jr.
Carol grew up primarily in Cedar Rapids, IA, however, she and her Mother spent a lot of her childhood visiting in Des Moines with Great Aunt Ree and Great Uncle Gee and their daughters, cousins Karen and Linda. When she was 7, she went to Disneyland with her Mom, Uncle Gee, Aunt Mauree and cousin Linda, taking the train from Iowa to California.
During high school, Carol worked as a Candy Striper at a local hospital. This demonstrated her character at an early age. Carol was a wonderful caregiver, but gave it up to raise her family. Carol became a welder in the 70's and worked at Fruehauf and Loziers until retirement in 2006. After retiring, Carol earned a foster care license in Nebraska. She provided foster care and respite care for many children. Carol also worked at various youth group homes and day care centers. Carol will be fondly remembered by family across the country for her wonderful birthday calls. Every year on your Birthday you could count on a birthday call from Carol!
Carol leaves to cherish her memory her children, Chrishawn, Richard, Ryan and Ike III; her grandchildren, Jordan, Richard Jr., Peyton, Tylynn, Porsha, Jamaal, Courtney, Tayshawn, Tayrome, Ike IV, Ryan Jr., Naysean, Iyanna, Roman, Gabriel, Derrick, Shardea, Ebony, Larry, Sir (Bennet), as well as a bunch of great grandchildren and Ike Conway, Jr. (husband).
We all remember her spunk and smack talking. Carol, Momma Sue, will be greatly missed.
