Charles Elmer Johnson

Charles E. Johnson (AKA Charlie, Char), 88, native of Charles Town, WV and son of Charles E. Johnson III and Agnes Stripling, died June 20, 2023 at Saint Joseph Villa in Omaha, Nebraska.

An early fascination with Army Air Corps fighter planes led Charles into the Air Force, where he served in several locations during the Korean War, including Champaign Illinois, Iceland, and Lincoln Nebraska.

After receiving his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Charles began his civilian life in nearby Omaha. Charles' occupations were as varied as his interests, having spent time as a mail carrier, bouncer, manufacturing technician, salesman, restaurant manager, and insurance agent among other roles.

That stated, Charles was prouder of his backgammon skills than just about any other accolade he received, and he was a fiendishly clever Uno player. In his later years, Charles dedicated his life to the care and wellness of his beloved wife Kathy, and he now joins her in perfect peace.

Charles is survived by six children and their spouses - Chuck, Terry and his wife Kim, Ragenia, Chris and his wife Julie, Katina, and Steve. He is also survived by grandchildren Shanice, Corey, Corinne, Nisha, Chris Jr, Miriam, Avory, Roneesha, Kevin, and Ayla, along with several great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, sister Frankie, brother Laurence, daughter Beverly, wife Judy, and wife Kathy. Charles' family will host a memorial service on Saturday, July 15 th 2023 at 11am, with a repast to follow.
