Claudia Vernell "Nell" Cotton was born on August 24, 1966 in Omaha, NE to Claude "Boone" Cotton and Laverne Lawrence.
Nell attended schools in the Omaha Public School District and graduated from Omaha Central High School. After high school she studied cosmetology at Capitol Beauty School. She worked multiple jobs until the final one with the Omaha Housing Authority, and then focused solely on being a Spiritual Life Coach. In 2018, Nell (making sure she could look after her sister), had the opportunity to travel to Nassau, Bahamas and had a spiritual encounter that drew her closer to Jesus Christ more than ever before.
Her LOVE for her "village" was UNDENIABLE, and she took her role in the village very seriously! No matter who it was (mother, siblings, nieces, nephews, family, friend, or stranger) she had a BUNCH of advice to give. Her care packages could feed a village. She would...she did, give the shirt off of her back. The LOVE she had for her nieces, nephews, and godchildren was so special it made them look at her as a second mom!
She was preceded in death by her dad Claude "Boone" Cotton, grandparents Claudie & Geneva Cotton, Orville & Ida Lawrence, and her sister Kimmie Mattison-McKinney.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories her loving mother Laverne Hall - Omaha, NE; siblings Johnny (Connie) Blackburn, Carletta Lawrence - Omaha, NE, Orvell (Nicole) Lawrence - Lewisville, TX, Jermaine Hall, Sharon Marks, Karen (Stephen) Prince, Tammie (Freddie) Hall-Dunbar - Omaha, NE, Sidney "Bam"McKinney-Hall - Battle Creek, MI, Jimmy "L.J." Hall Jr. - Omaha, NE, Daneisha Hall - St. Louis, MO; Father figure Carl Tyler - Omaha, NE; Godchildren Jewliana and others, and literally a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, family and friends.
