Craig Stephen Bigelow died on Saturday, February 15, 2025 after a half-year battle with pancreatic cancer. His final moments were peaceful and tender, and he passed into the great beyond guided by his signature stoicism.
Craig was born on May 17, 1951 in Chicago, IL. Craig was preceded in death by his parents Marge & Gordon Bigelow, and is brother to Keith Bigelow & Kevin (Mary Lou) Bigelow.
A star wrestler for the Irvington Bulldogs, Craig remained active throughout the years, dedicated to breaking 70 on the green, and actively gardening his own, and his children’s, properties. There were small but notable forays into sports like sailing, offering his children opportunity to bear witness to his colorful vocabulary.
Craig was a six time Emmy Award-winning Associate Director, whose work was exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art. His many contributions to PBS, ABC Sports and live television were a source of pride for Craig and his family. His children each have fond memories of time spent in editing rooms and studios, meeting the likes of Diane Sawyer, Sam Champion, and spectacularly, Big Bird.
Upon retirement, Craig’s travels took him abroad to many countries and on many adventures. His lifelong search for the perfect Irish Coffee will surely be continued by many, if not all, of his children.
Craig maintained friendships for life with those he loved and they remain beloved extended family. They are honored as cherished survivors, in addition to his children, Christopher Bigelow, Chandler (Rebecca) Bigelow, Katherine (Donald) Bigelow Freligh, and Caroline (Andrew) Bigelow Sbarra, their mother Lynne Rock, as well as his beloved grandchildren; Connor, Adeline, Evangeline, Kendrick, Jacob, Sadie, and Caleb.
