Daniel McCarty

Daniel James McCarty ("Dan") passed away May 6, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71 years. He was born December 6, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Edna McCarty and brother Harry McCarty.

He is survived by his children Sabrena (Eric) Lozo, Daniel (Megan) McCarty, and Jonathan (Tara) McCarty; grandchildren Malayna, Ericson, Brielle, Zoey, Logan, Max, and River; brother Gary (Gay) McCarty; significant other Beth McKelvie; nieces, nephews, and other family.

Dan was born the youngest of three boys in St. Louis, Missouri in 1952 to Harry and Edna McCarty. He was a devoted father to three children, Sabrena better known as Sis, Daniel and Jonathan, who dearly miss the life lessons he imparted to them. Dan was a hard worker, working nearly up to the time of his passing, because he wasn't one to sit by and watch the world go by.

He took great pride in being a parent and grandparent. Anytime anyone needed help fixing something Dan McCarty was the man with the plan.

While we lost our most beloved dad and grandfather. many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at humor often times questionable jokes. and even a glorious pain in the neck, to what I'm sure is a small select few (because no matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him).

There was so much more to him than dad and grandpa, though to us that was his greatest roll - he was also a friend, a coworker and colleague, a cousin, brother, stand-in paternal figure to the fatherless, a handyman.

Dan was a fighter all the way to his last earthly breath.
