David LeRette Sr.

David L. LeRette Sr., 83, passed away at home on December 2, 2024 in Omaha, NE. David was born September 30, 1941 in Neola, IA, to Eldred LeRette and Zola Freeburg. He served in the Air Force where he completed preventative medicine, water treatment and emergency response training. David went on to marry his wife of 58+ years, Marialena.

David had many talents. He first began a career in printing, moving on to auto body and mechanical work He was inventive receiving two patents. He owned a Little King franchise as well as, the Chicago Dog. He enjoyed fishing, his cabin, spending much time on his Apple computers, woodworking, gardening, cribbage and he played a mean game of Farm Ville via Facebook.David had several project cars that he restored throughout his life - leaving his last one, a 1949 Willys Jeepster, unfinished. David also enjoyed a cold Busch light or whatever cold beer was available. He was generous, had an ornery sense of humor and countless"stories" to share.

David was preceded in death by his parents and step father, Carl Freeburg, sister Katherine Green, brother Dwight L. LeRette. He is survived by his wife, children, Dawn (John) Kaupa, Tari LeRette, and David Jr., grandchildren, Kristin LeRette, JD Kaupa, Damien(Katrina) LeRette, Mercedes LeRette, Devin LeRette, Destiny(Tom) Strassenburg, Gage LeRette.Great-grandchildren; Jace, Jayda, Dayven, Kaja, Vanaleigh, Naelina, Prestin, and Zaiden all of Omaha,NE.Brother, Don (Carol) LeRette of Council Bluffs, IA, sister, Joyce Young of Creston, IA. Many nieces/nephews, in-laws, and friends.
