David Sherman Scarbrough of Omaha, NE formerly of Centennial, CO passed away on September 29,
2023 from congestive heart failure. He was 85 years old. David was born July 27, 1938 in Pratt, Kansas.
Went to school in Buffalo, KS and graduated in 1956 from Toronto High School. After high school David
attended Northrup Aeronautical Institute in Inglewood, CA for certification in aircraft repair. Once he
completed his certification David returned to Kansas and enrolled in the Army and later in the Army
Reserves. While in the reserves David worked as an airplane mechanic for Cessna Aircraft and obtained
his pilot’s license.
In 1963 David moved to Omaha, NE and began working for Todd Burrows Co. as a Sales Representative
and Repairman. During one of his calls, he was set up on a blind date with Faustina Jane Gintz who
would later become his wife. They married in 1965. In 1967 they adopted a baby boy, Richard Allan.
Later, in 1967 the family moved to Wichita, KS and David began working for Walker Exhaust and
Mufflers. As he moved up in the company they would move to Denver, CO and Salt Lake City, UT. In
1975, the family adopted a baby girl, Jane Evelyn, in Salt Lake City, UT. David was promoted to District
Manager and was moved to Vancouver, WA and then to Libertyville, IL. It was a promotion to Regional
Manager that moved them back to Denver, CO. David took early retirement from Walker in 1990 and
continued to work in sales for the next several years.
During his 25 years with Walker Exhaust and Mufflers David worked his way up from Sales
Representative to Regional Manager. He received many awards including Manager of the Year multiple
times and many trips including Hawaii and Mexico City.
David and Faustina loved to travel whether it was a short daytrip to the mountains or across the world
to China. Their favorite destination was Hawaii. David also enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening and
was an avid Broncos fan! David was an active member of the churches he attended having served as an
Elder and Deacon. He most recently served as a member of the Covenant Connections Committee at
Covenant Presbyterian Church.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jennie, and his wife of 50 years, Faustina. He is
survived by son, Richard, and daughter, Jane; grandsons Justain, Cody and Zach; great-grandchildren;
Jaden, Camden, Riley, Kinsley, Cole and Lilyanna and many nieces, nephews and many friends.
