Donell Horn

November 16, 1941 — March 10, 2025

Donell Horn passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. He was born on November 16, 1941, in Brewton, Alabama, to Mattie Williams (Mitchell) and Richard Horn. Donell was Mattie's only child and the oldest son of Richard’s four boys: Richard (Chip) Horn, Geoffrey Horn, and Bryan Horn.

He spent his youth in Cincinnati, Ohio, before migrating to Omaha, Nebraska, where he met and married his beloved wife, Joyce Fisher (Horn). Although separated in marriage but bonded in friendship, they shared a beautiful and strong admiration for each other until her passing in 2000. They were blessed with four children: Malcolm Horn (deceased), Marion Horn, Donell Horn Jr. (Don-Don), and Tonya Horn.

Upon retirement, he returned to Cincinnati, to support and be with his mother. Here, he was blessed to gain special friends who adopted him as family, Mable Hudson, and her kind family, and sisters Carolyn and Chauntay Stone. He lived there for 19 years.

In 2023, he relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, to be cared for and closer to his family and middle son, Marion. He spent a lot of time visiting with his cousin Faye Davis, watching movies, and playing his favorite pastime game of chess with his cousin Willie Brye and his son Marion. He also enjoyed visits/conversations with his daughter Tonya and phone calls with his son Don-Don.

He leaves behind his children, Marion Horn, Donell Horn Jr. (Don-Don), and Tonya Horn; his grandson, Kylan Whitlow; brothers Chip and Geoffrey; and a host of family and friends.

Donell will be remembered for his gentile and quiet spirit, and love for his family. His legacy lives on in his children, family, and all who knew him.
