Dorcas Mae Brown (Gaines) was born in Atchinson, KS November 7th, 1937 to the late, Theodore and Alberta Gaines the fourth child of five girls. She moved to Omaha, NE with her family in 1941. Dorcas attended Kellom for grade school and tech high. Dorcas married at a young age becoming a mother of seven children. She later graduated from Immanuel Medical as a Certified Medical Assistant and was hired on becoming the first African American CMA in Omaha, NE. Dorcas accepted Christ at an early age and joined God Missionary Baptist Church, Dorcas often attended Mount Calvary where she enjoyed working in the kitchen there until her health failed. She enjoyed shopping, taking care of others and spending time with her close knit family.
There was never a dull moment in her presence. Her house was filled with love, laughter, and family. You would be amazed hearing the words coming out of her mouth, if you know what I mean. She didn't mean any harm, it was all in love. She made sure when she voiced her opinion. It was never sugar coated she only wanted the best for everyone, even when she wasn't her best.
Our mother, grandmother, friend and loved one (Dorcas) has passed on but her memories will always live within us. She was an amazing women. She showed us all unconditional love. It didn't matter how you lived your life her love would fill you up. Dorcas was supportive and took care of everyone. Don't get it wrong she was still a feisty little lady whether it was nice or not she had to say what she meant and meant what she said. She just didn't play, about her family husband, (Lloyd) Lacresha, Leslie and Felandes Wilson. We all knew the truth. lol, no she loved everyone of her children and grandchildren. It was so many of us she would be looking at you in your face and call someone else name. correction I'm -------- yes put your name in that blank spot cause she did it to you too.
She is proceeded in death by husband, Lloyd E. Brown Sr ; Parents; W Theodore and Alberta Gaines; sisters; Elaine Johnson and Charlotte Gaines, sons; Louis and Howard Wilson; grandsons; Eric Mease Jr and Dwayne A. Brown.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sisters; Gloria (James) Moore and Norma (Wheaty) Carter; Daughters, Mary Avant, Deborah Lewis, Karen Wilson, Dorothy (Abe) Lytle, and Rosaline (Charles) Evans. Sons; Michael Wilson, Darrell Redden, Kenneth (Vanessa) Brown and Lloyd Jr (Kia)Brown. Grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren a host of, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
