Doris Joan Murphy

Doris Joan Murphy, age 86, passed away peacefully in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 26, 2021. She was born April 3, 1934 to George William and Enid Claire Benton Howey in Grant Township north of Adair, IA. Joan graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1952. Joan lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa since 1967 until moving to Millard Manor in 2015. Joan enjoyed needle crafts like cross-stitch, latch-hook, watching old movies, reading the Bible, etc. Her pride and joy were her three girls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Murphy; daughter, Jeanette Marie LeMaster and son-in-law Dan LeMaster; brother Frank Howey and sister Betty Morgan.

Joan is survived by her daughters Judi (Todd) Spears of Omaha, NE and Julie (Dave) West of Sebastopol, CA; grandchildren Ashley Carver of Council Bluffs, IA and Lindsey (Nick) Braun of Elkhorn, NE; great-grandchildren Tyler Carver, Nathan Carver, Kyle Carver, Mason Braun and Benjamin Braun; brother Gary (Evelyn) Howey of Audubon, IA and sister Charlene (Warren) Brady of West Des Moines, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joan requested that no services be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Disabled American Veterans or a charity of your choice.
