Dorothy Jean Brown

Dorothy Jean Bradley was born on March 19, 1934 to Sellers and Carrie Lee (Blunt) Bradley. Dorothy joined her brother, Ruben, and grew up in Andalusia, Alabama.

When Dorothy was still a little girl her mother passed away. Her father later remarried Anna Mae Blue Bennet and the family grew with the blending of Ruben and Dorothy with sisters -- Mary Elizabeth, Anna Clara, and Betty.
Dorothy didn't talk much about her childhood but she remembered not liking going into the fields to pick cotton!

Dorothy graduated high school and moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

In time, she followed her sister, Anna Clara, to Omaha and lived with her family. Dorothy worked at Bergan Mercy Hospital as an overnight nurses' aide and remembered the day when the tornado of 1975 damaged the hospital in its destructive path.

Always the caregiver, Dorothy spent many years living with families, taking care of children and helping those with medical needs. Dorothy later went to work for Home Instead.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers were Dorothy's favorite team! Along with loyalty to the Alabama college team, she enjoyed her Saturdays cheering on the Huskers.

As Dorothy advanced in years she needed more care and in March of 2021 she moved to Papillion Manor. The staff there enjoyed her 'crusty' personality and her strong Christian faith.

Dorothy Jean is survived by her sister, Annie Clara Greene of Virginia Beach, VA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins all over the country.
