Dorothy L. Petrey

May 28, 1962 — April 1, 2024

Miss Dorothy was born to Shirley and Robert Petrey Sr on May 28, 1962. As being the first child that Shirley got to choose the name of, naturally she chose her mother's name Dorothy.  Growing up in a military family setting Dorothy moved around a bit as a child, but made many friends wherever they lived. It was probably because she was terribly funny in her own way! She always had a joke to say about any situation. She grew up loving sports, playing drums in the highschool marching band, and a collector of many interesting things. When she was of age she joined the National Guard and made her father very proud. After becoming pregnant with her daughter Christina she was discharged and enrolled in college. She received her degree for computer programming and spent over 25 years at First Data Resources in Omaha, Nebraska. She then went on to her favorite job working with animals in the family pet sitting business in Houston Texas. She spent 4 years working with and being around family but missed her daughter Christina and granddaughter Abigail terribly, so she moved back to Omaha. She spent the last 10 or so years excelling at every job she had, always climbing the ladder to become team leader.  She was very good at motivating her team and coaching at excellent standards. She honestly cared for everyone and everything very deeply, even though she had a tough girl with no care in the world persona.  She is going to be missed by countless family, friends and coworkers.

Dorothy L. Petrey was preceded in death by her brother Robert Petrey Jr., her grandmother Dorothy Rhul and her father Robert Petrey Sr. Survived by daughter Christina Hanna, son in-law Andrew Hanna, granddaughter Abigail Hanna, mother Shirley Petrey and sisters Leona & family; Charlotte & family; Donna & family and Erika & family.  And of course, her beloved cats Boots and Scoots.
