Douglas Dale French passed away April 22, 2025 in Papillion, Nebraska at the age of 62 years. He was born January 1, 1963 in Scottsbluffs, Nebraska.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, George and Carol French.
He is survived by his children Michael (Jessie) French, Melanie (Chris) Cruz, and Miranda (Jacob Miles) French; grandchildren Alexandria French, Barrett French, Evelyn Cruz, and Lillian Cruz; sister Brenda (Gene) von Forell; and nieces, and other family.
Doug grew up in Chadron, Nebraska, where he played as a running back on the Chadron High School football team. After graduating, he played one year of football at Chadron State College. Doug moved to Omaha in 1982 to attend nursing school at Clarkson College, where he graduated in 1985. Doug was a nurse for the next 40 years, specializing in surgery.
He married Janelle Meyer in 1986 and they had three children. Doug deeply loved his three children and was actively involved in their extracurricular activities as a soccer coach, Boy Scout Scoutmaster, and trap shooting coach. On Sundays, you could frequently see him supporting his daughters at their all-day club volleyball tournaments. Throughout life, he enjoyed many hobbies including: fishing, bow hunting, shooting, photography, bird watching, and board games.
Later in life, Doug's grandkids meant the world to him. He loved having game nights with his kids and grandkids. He loved his family dearly.
