Duane LeRoy Buenting, the oldest child of Louie and Alice Buenting was born on July 15, 1938 in Carroll, IA. He grew up on a farm near Palmer, IA. In 1958, he attended Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha, Nebraska where he met Marlys Converse. They married in 1960. Duane was drafted into the Army in 1961 and served in Germany for 2 years. He was an Army corpsman.
Duane and Marlys had 2 children, Teresa and Jeff. Duane and Marlys lived in Omaha in the same house for 53 years. Duane worked at Paxton-Mitchell Iron Foundry for 43 years. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 431 in Omaha. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to read. He was never late.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys; his daughter, Teresa, her husband, Lane and grandsons Cole and Clay of Leawood, KS; and his son, Jeff and his wife, Donna of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Elaine, Jim, Denny, Phyllis, and Steve.
