Eddie Mae Elem was born a twin on January 14, 1952, in Hayti, Missouri to Rosie Lee Elem and Henry Elem. She departed from this life on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Eddie Mae was preceded in death by her mother Rosie Lee Elem, father Henry Elem, and brothers Henry Jr. Elem, Cornell Elem, and McKinley Elem.
Eddie Mae was raised in Tucson, Arizona, and moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1977 with Emmitt Haggins together they raised their five children. Known to be giving, loving, and outspoken, Eddie Mae found joy in caring for her special needs son for the past 48 years, playing the lottery, listening to classic soul and R&B music that she collected, talking on the phone for hours with family and friends, remembering everyones birthday, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Eddie Mae leaves behind Emmitt Haggins; her five children, Anthony Elem, Emmitt Elem, Tanisha Elem, Kelvin Elem, and LaKeisha Elem; aunts Adell Jordan and Bertha Lee Pennie; siblings Louise Elem, Irma Adams, Sarah Payne, Mary Williams, Florida Elem, Nancy Holloway, Frances Toney, Jimmy Elem, Randy Elem, Ralph Elem; grandchildren Keyonis Elem, Keyondai Elem, and JayMillius Fleming; great-grandchildren AShiya Donaldson and ZyAire Yahouedeou, and a multitude of family and friends who loved her dearly.
The family has requested that all attendees wear a face mask for the service.
