Fairy Christine Prue 1958-2024

Christine was warm, loving and she had a big heart. Anyone she met she welcomed with open arms. Fairy Christine Prue, 66, of Omaha, NE, passed in Omaha, NE on December 9, 2024. Christine was born in Omaha, NE in 1958 to Otto and Vinnie Guthrie. 

Our mom Christine was a strong, warm, compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others. She was a proud and dignified woman who has a passion for life. She has a great sense of humor and she enjoyed joking around. Her kind, loving and funny nature are a testament to her many life long friendships that she formed over the years. So many of you here today. 

Christine was born on October 6, 1958, she was born at a time when President Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, establishing NASA. Songs like “Don’t” by Elvis Presley and “La Bamba” by Ritchie Valens played over the radio. La Bamba was one of her many favorite movies. 

She grew up with traditional values and learned the necessary skills that women of her era should - cooking, sewing, and knitting. She also had a love for reading, coloring and beading. She taught her children many of these values including - good manners, respect, and good morals. These values made us who we are today and we thank her so very much. 

Three years ago in 2021, our mom was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her body was riddled with tumors at that time. We all took the diagnosis as you would expect. We were brought together by unfortunate circumstances but we remained together with love, laughter and positivity. Our mom embodied strength and resilience and through her fight she taught us what really matters in life. Love and Time. Over the last three years she had many ups and downs. She gave us a few scares but she always fought hard. We are so proud of you Mom and we love you so very much. No more pain and no more suffering. 

You never know when you’re going to be called home so take the time you have and live life, cherish your loved ones and spend time doing what you enjoy. 

Christine was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Vinnie Guthrie, her siblings; Art, Ann, Usher, Berthie, Mary, Lomi, Patsy, Donna, Eugene, and James, her children; Mark and Lisa and her grandchild Shawn and she is survived by her sister Wanda, her children; Eric, Kesha, Alex, and Summer, her grandchildren; Stephanie, Ashley, Brandon, KyIesha, KeShane, Maleki, Gori’Donna, Kaésen and Asher, her great grandchild Ka’Miah. Pall bearers - Eric, Alex, KeShane, Jeremy, Bill, Andrew and Maleki
