Galen Robert Stacy

Galen Robert Stacy was born on April 9, 1940, in Clarke County, Iowa. He died on October 11, 2022, at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. He was 82.

Galen grew up in rural Iowa. He was involved with 4H and loved animals. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1958. In 1962, he graduated from the University of Iowa with a business degree. He then served 2 years in the US Army stationed in Korea.
Galen married Rebecca (Becky) Becker in 1965. Galen started his career working for the State of Wisconsin Department of Taxation. In 1969, Galen and Becky moved to Geneva, Il where he took a job with Beatrice Foods in Chicago. While living in Geneva, Galen was a member of the Jaycees and served as a city Alderman. In 1983, he became a member of the Illinois CPA society.

In 1991, Galen accepted a job with ConAgra Foods, which brought Galen and Becky back to their home state of Iowa. Galen was a member of the Glenwood, IA tree board and spent much of his free time exploring and photographing the Loess Hills. He especially enjoyed pasque flowers, helping with prairie restoration, and hunting mushrooms.

Galen was a quiet, knowledgeable man with a quick wit. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, photography, reading mystery novels, following the news via TV and radio, playing piano, and listening to music.
Galen was a loving, supportive husband and father. He will be missed by his wife Becky; his children Monica, Doug, Gretchen; his Son in laws Dave and Kevin; his grandchildren Brian, Eric, Alyson, Maggie, Katie, Phoebe; and step granddaughter Skylar.
He was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Lorena and his brother Denzil.
