Gary Alan Landas was born on February 1, 1961 and went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2021. Gary passed peacefully at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE in the presence of his wife and three of his children.
Gary is survived by his wife of nearly 27 years, Cathy; his children, Kyle Landas, Jake (Sarah) Landas, Jared (Anna) Landt, Leah (Michael) Struthers, Jenny (Ricky) Glenn and Bethany (Nate) Willey; his grandchildren, Jonah, Rowan and Emerson Landas, Sonja, Harper and Elah Landt, Declan and Lachlan Struthers, Jaxson Glenn, Ethan and Savannah Willey; his mother Mary Ann Landas; his siblings, Randy Landas (Mary), Linda (David) Gretchen, Brenda (Doug) Tiffany, and Gina (David) Kulbeth and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Junior Landas, and his brother Mike Landas.
Gary was born in Oelwein, IA to Junior and Mary Ann Landas. Gary was one of six children, raised in Iowa and remained there until 2012 when he and his wife relocated to Omaha, NE. Gary worked as a Machinist at Arnold Motor Supply in Marshalltown, IA for nearly 30 years and then worked as a Machinist at Malloy Electric for the last 9 years of his life. Gary proudly raised six children and had the pleasure of making memories with 11 grandchildren before leaving this earth. Gary has been an active member of his church in Marshalltown and then in Omaha for the last 30 years, and served faithfully and joyfully on multiple ministry teams.
Gary loved to cook, especially on the grill or smoker and was always willing to throw a meal together for one of his children or friends if they happened to stop by. He enjoyed working on cars, especially if it was to help someone in need and enjoyed home and building projects. Gary loved to travel, most often to the beach, where he was known for wearing socks with his sandals after getting sunburned on the first day of vacation. Gary's life is one that is defined by seemingly insignificant moments of loving and serving others. Though the ways he loved and served never felt like enough to him, those that knew him were blessed by him time and time again.
