Gavin D Seelbinder aged 69 passed away peacefully September 25th, 2023 after his battle with cancer. He was born to James and Margaret Seelbinder on May 14th, 1954 in Kansas City, MO. At Shawnee Mission West High School Gavin lettered in five sports. After graduation in 1972 Gavin joined the US Navy. He schooled in Culinary Arts and became a chef in 1974. He traveled all around the world. He lived a full life.
Gavin is survived by his daughter Christina Harris, three grandsons, Nicholas, Thomas and Alexander, three granddaughters, Hayden, Isabella and Amelia, one great grandson, Hutton and many, many friends.
Gavin was extremely proud to be a vet. On many Memorial Days he would cook a large meal for a group of vets, putting his chef skill to great use. He would tell of the famous people he cooked for which included Scottie Pippen, Martin Short and Jessica Alba (and many more). The not so famous but more appreciated nurses at the VA hospital are still talking about his fudge! Gavin overcame many challenges in his life thanks to his stubbornness and twisted sense of humor. He loved his family, his friends, his dog Shorty, cooking and of course golf. Like the rest of humanity, he was not perfect but he did the best he knew how to do. He will be missed by many. He was tremendously thankful to the staff at the VA hospital, the staff at Florence Healthcare and to his many friends who helped him on his journey.
Internment information to follow.
