Gerald D. McLemore was born on June 18, 1950 to Orrie McLemore Sr. and Cloie Scott in Moline, IL
Gerald had style with a walk to match, always in a fresh 3 piece suite, freshly shined Stacy Adams shoes, and a brim hat. He had an amazing and soulful voice that he not only used to serve the Lord in song, but also as a Radio DJ for the local Radio Station in Davenport.
Gerald lived life to the fullest. He travelled the world serving in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. For 25 years, he owned and operated his own Barber Shop; a talent and gift that he used until recently, giving free haircuts to family, friends and even men in the church and shelter.
In the summer of 1999, he moved to Omaha, NE and while walking into the Employment Office, met the eyes of Barbara Ann. He would often share how that was the last thing he was looking for, but when he met her there was an instant attraction unlike any other. On June 16, 2000 they joined together as one. And for the next 20 years would be joined in heart, mind, and Spirit. Each morning they would wake up and pray together and every night recite the Lords Prayer together.
Gerald loved the Lord, and loved to talk about where God had brought him from. Never ashamed of his past and proud of his future, he would wake up every morning at 3am when the house quiet and still to read his Bible. His favorite Bible verse Joshua 24:15 Choose for yourself this day whom you will serve. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
He would share his wisdom through his lifes experience. Although he looked intimidating, you found that he was truly kind-hearted and silly, always making jokes or doing something obnoxious just to put a smile on your face.
Gerald leaves to cherish and celebrate his life to his Sons Marcus Mayes, Byron McLemore, and Nathan McLemore. Brothers: Joseph McLemore (Shirley) and Roosevelt Ingram. Sisters: JoAnn Huff, Jacqueline Perkins, Marilyn McCorkle, and Kathryn McLemore. There are a large number of nieces and nephews, and extended family to many to name but love him just the same.
He proceeded this life with his Wife and Best Friend of 20 years, Barbara McLemore. Mother Cloie Scott, Father Orrie McLemore, Sr. Brothers: Orrie McLemore, Jr, Leon McLemore, Keith McLemore, Clarence Smith, Thurmon Smith, Willie Smith, and Robert Smith.
