Gerald Dean Thomas

Gerald D. Thomas passed away January 31, 2023 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 65 years. He was born May 30, 1957 in Omaha.

Gerald was proud to be an S.O.B. (South Omaha Boy). What were you thinking it meant? He had lots of friends, attended Indian Hills, and graduated from Omaha South Highschool. Gerald was nicknamed "Pappy" by his father the name would stick, and family called him by that his entire life.

Gerald and Roma married in 1982, celebrated 3 children, who he cherished so much. He loved basketball! He had a great jump shot to which friends called him GT Automatic. Other little-known facts: Introducing grandkids to Bing Cherries. Making sure that included getting juice all over their mouth! Doing statistics, creating teams, individual stats, team seasons. Going to Holiday BB Tournament, watching 15 minutes of Lawrence talk show every Saturday. In honor of his grandmother. Most of all he enjoyed being at home with family. Grilling, sitting on the front deck, sharing stories, laughing. He had a contagious laugh that once he got going, you couldn't help joining in laughing yourself.

This above all, is how he will be remembered.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Rosalie Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Roma Thomas (Dunn); children Rayna (Terrell) Pollock, Schyler (Anne) Thomas, and Shaye (Tamara) Thomas; grandchildren Robyn, Rhozlynn, Rianne, Terrell "RJ", Piper, Dominic, Teagan, one grandson on the way, and one great-grandson on the way; sister Cheryl Brye; brother Charles Thomas; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
