Glenn Johnson

April 9, 1932 — November 10, 2024

Glenn Ray Johnson, 92, of Omaha, NE peacefully passed away on November 10th, 2024.

Glenn was born April 9th, 1932, in Kennard, NE, the son of John Henry Johnson, and Mary Ethel Hitchcock. He was his “mother’s baby” and last living sibling of Russell Johnson, Helen Juul, and Robert Johnson.

Glenn graduated from Kennard High School in 1949. Always a curious mind, Glenn loved to take things apart and put them back together to see if they still worked, which served him well when he became an installation craftsman at AT&T. He was drafted and joined the US Air Force in 1952, completing 2 of his 4 years in Cromer, England. He later attended UNO for Electrical Engineering.

Glenn met his beautiful wife, Faye James, in 1953 on what was supposed to be a double date. Faye was “struck by thunder and lightning” and they married on July 2, 1954. Faye joined him in Cromer where they enjoyed their “honeymoon” and had their first of three daughters, Renee Johnson, born in 1955. Terri Johnson (1959) and Denise Johnson (1964) were born in Omaha, NE.

Glenn’s laughter was contagious, and he was well-known for being an entertainer by all who knew him. He carried himself with integrity, had a unique passion for music, and never met a stranger. He was a natural storyteller and a devoted husband and grandfather who adored his loved ones deeply; never failing to mention his family to those he encountered. Cherished memories and classical music could bring tears to his eyes, while inside jokes and ‘ugly-face’ photos from his grandchildren left him wheezing with laughter. Glenn's infectious personality, compassion and devotion to those he loved will be carried on by all those he leaves behind.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Faye, his 3 granddaughters, Kelee Vail, Nicole Hanten (Ryan Hanten), and Krystee De Souza (Fernando De Souza); and 8 great grandchildren: Dominick, Ethan, Kaiya, Bria, Gavin, Jordan, Chevelle and Benjamin. As well as two great GrandFur children, Tigger and Tank.

Services will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on N. 90th Monday, November 18th at 10am with a viewing on Sunday the 17th from 3pm-5pm. A “Celebration of Life” reception will follow the service at Heritage Point on 168th & Blondo.
