Ilona Angelika Rivera (Koehn), 72, passed away peacefully on 2/24/24 in Omaha, NE. Though our paths grew apart in recent years, the memories of Ilona's presence in our lives remain deeply cherished.
Ilona was born and raised near Frankfurt, Germany. She brought into the world two children: Jennifer Zahradnik and Christopher Koehn. In addition to her children, Ilona leaves behind her four grandchildren: Kiley Winchel, Rowdy Koehn, Colin Zahradnik, and Julia Zahradnik and one great-grandchild, Kinley Winchel. We will forever hold her memory in our hearts. A woman of many complexities, Ilona was known for her kindness, beauty, and sense of humor. She had a zest for life and a spirit that touched those around her. Despite the circumstances that led to our estrangement, the love and bond shared between a mother and child are immutable and everlasting. In her absence, we are left with a mixture of emotions - grief for the moments lost, gratitude for the love shared, and hope for reconciliation beyond this life. While we mourn her passing, as well as all the moments lost over the years, we embrace the lessons they've taught us: unwavering devotion to family, the power of grace, and the peace that comes with forgiveness.
Sharing our loss is Ilona's partner of seventeen years, Tony Cano. Tony was a dear friend who loved her very much, provided comfort and care during her illness, and stayed by her side until her last breath.
May Ilona's soul find peace, and may we find solace in the cherished moments we once shared.
