Ivorene Berry was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born on March 15, 1940, to Beatrice “Nellie” Johnson and was raised by her aunt, Bernice Green and uncle, Dennis Green.
There she met her husband, George Berry, Sr. They were married on October 14, 1955. To that union, eight children were born – sisters: Fayette, Brenda, Bonnie, Claudette, Christine, Bernice, and brothers: George, Jr. and Dennis.
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at noon, Ivorene Berry took went home to be with the Lord.
She is preceded in death by a devoted husband, George Berry Sr., daughter, Christine Johnson, two grandchildren, Justin Johnson and Joshua Drummond, Sr., and one great grandchild, Stevie Nicole Baldridge.
She leaves five daughters whom she cherished, Fayetta Byrd of Omaha, Nebraska, with her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, Brenda (Gary) Osler of Omaha, Nebraska with her 8 children (1 deceased), 35 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, Claudette Davis of Vinita, Oklahoma with her 2 children and 1 grandson, Bonnie Berry of Omaha, Nebraska with her 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, Bernice Berry of Pearl, Mississippi with her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and sons, whom she adored, George Berry, Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi with 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and Dennis Berry of Pearl, Mississippi as well as son-in-law Cornelius Johnson (Uncle Irvin) with 4 children (1 deceased), and 6 grandchildren. Affectionately, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends remain.
Ivorene loved to cook, watching Westerns, and read books. She was a long standing usher at her home church in Mississippi, enjoyed fellowship, the members, and had many close friends for many years in Pearl. Also, she loved shelf -shopping with her daughters and grandchildren. Her favorite singer was Aaron Neville and many households still cherish her baby blankets and throws she knitted for new born babies, birthdays, and Christmas. She enjoyed playing spades and dominos with family and friends at the Annual Berry-Benson Family Reunion as well as traveling the country. Ivorene's favorite colors were purple and red for which she wore so eloquently. As wife Mom, Grandmomma, Great Grandmomma, Aunt, Great Aunt, Sister-in-Law, Sister in Christ, and friend, she was a loving and caring woman of God. We appreciate everyone who loved and cared for her.
