Janie Mae Hughes

July 24, 1954 — March 6, 2019

Janie Mae Hughes was born on July 24, 1954 in Greenville, MS. She accepted Christ at an early age, and stayed rooted in faith and prayer throughout her life. She was no stranger to adversity, but was able to persevere and earn her GED as an adult. While she was an exceptional cook, her love of fashion (especially shoes) was unmatched. In her prime, it was not uncommon to see her dressed to the nine with her hair and makeup done while donning a fur coat. Janies love of the gospel was evident at the time of her passing when she talked, laughed, and shared stories with her family. Extremely strong willed, she was able to make her own final plans and looked to the sky with a smile.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents Leon Luckett, Sr. & Bertha Lard Luckett; Siblings Leon Luckett, Jr. & Annie Luckett Nelson. Survived by children Wesley Jr., Sabrina, Quincy, & Nathaniel (Markeisha); Nephew & Niece Vershaun & Twyla; Grandchildren, many other relatives, & friends. A heartfelt thank you to devoted friend Joyce Stevens.
