John Henry Moore of Papillion, NE passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 at his home with his wife Anne at his side. John was born on a farm near Mount Ayr, Iowa to Clair and Madeline Moore on June 12, 1943. Johns family moved to Davis City and lived with Grandpa and Grandma Cartwright until the family purchased a farm near Garden Grove, Iowa on Popcorn Road.
John attended LeRoy Consolidated School and Mormon Trail High School. He was a good student academically. He exceeded in mathematics which helped him in his future career. He enjoyed playing football. He loved working all 4 years of High School at the Iowa State Fair as a usher at the Grandstand. He would work the far corners of the Grandstand, so he could enjoy watching the concerts without having to do a lot of work. He attended Maryville College in Maryville, MO for one year.
John worked as a superintendent for Omni Engineering for many years before retiring at age 70.
John loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, dog sledding, building dog sleds, gardening (both vegetables and flowers). He loved country and Christian music, reading various books and attending trapper conventions. He was an active member of Arrows Church, and Jesus Reigns Fellowship. He mostly loved talking and spending time with people.
John was survived by his wife Anne; daughters Karen Ackerman, and Tammy (Corey Cooper) Moore of Des Moines, IA; sister Jackie Goeken of Hills City, KS; niece and nephews and many cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents Clair and Madeline Moore; sisters Linda Jean Bashor and Patricia Moore; grandparents Porter and Jessie Moore as well as Harry and Gladys Cartwright.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wellspring Lutheran Church (1406 E Gold Coast Road, Papillion, NE 68046) on February 22, 2025 at 11am. Private family graveside service will be held at a future date in Lineville, IA
