In Loving Memory of John “Johnny” Sims It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John “Johnny” Sims, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on July 27, 2024. He was 65 years old. Born on October 19, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska, Johnny was a man whose charm, warmth, and infectious happiness touched everyone he met. With a heart full of love and a spirit that was always uplifting, he had an extraordinary ability to make others feel seen, heard, and cherished. Johnny served our country with honor and distinction as a proud member of the United States military. His dedication to service and his country was a testament to his character and commitment. As a veteran, he exemplified the values of courage, honor, and resilience. Beyond his military service, Johnny was a source of constant encouragement and positivity in the lives of his family and friends. He believed in lifting others up, offering a kind word or a helping hand whenever it was needed—even using his talented singing ability to constantly raise the spirit of others. His joy for life and capacity to find happiness in the simple things were traits that everyone admired and will forever miss. Johnny leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength. He is survived by his Mother Frances Williams, son John “John-John” Sims III (Shaylynn), son Chancy Sims (Rose), daughter Sara Sims-Wilson (Travon) (Greensboro, NC), daughter Vaylez Levering, daughter Jessica Booth (Cornell), brother LaDino Sims (Shelly), sister Tonya Preston (Alfred) (Warner Robins, GA), along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends who were all blessed by his presence. Johnny, your love, wisdom, and joy will forever live on in our hearts. As a member of God’s House of Power COGIC (Des Moines, Iowa) for a number of years, it was obvious you loved the LORD—may your soul eternally rest with Him. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to inspire us all. |
