Joyce Marie Preston-Kilgore

Joyce Marie "Sookie" Preston-Kilgore transitioned April 18, 2022 Surrounded by her family. She was born April 5, 1967 to the late Alsie Lee Preston and Norris Earl Preston of Omaha, Ne. She preceded in death by her late husband Bobby Charles Kilgore Sr. She was the 2nd born of a family of 5 siblings. She attended school in Omaha, Ne and graduated from North High School in 1985. Joyce worked various jobs after high school before settling into what she loved -working in nursing. She received her medication certification and went on to care for the elderly and those in need for most of her career. When her health declined, she left the medical field and dedicated her time and energy to friends, family and enjoying everything life had to offer. She loved going to thrift stores--just like her mother, going to the casino, good music and life.

"Miss Sookie" as she was known by her siblings will be greatly missed. Joyce was always the life of any party with her beautiful smile, great sense of humor, giving heart and her quirky "Sookie" dance that always made you laugh. She never forgot a birthday and family would always get that "Happy bithday to ya, Happy bithday to ya" phone call that she always sang in her own hyped up way, that always made our day. She would be there for any one of us whenever we needed her no matter the time day or night--she would be there even when we didn't need her, but her presence was always comforting. One thing about " Sookie" is that you couldn't stay mad at her for long. She just had that way of letting by-gons be by-gons. We loved her and she will be deeply missed.

Joyce Marie Preston-Kilgore was also a loving mother and survived by her children- daughter, Candace Marie Preston-Smith and son, Bobby Charles Kilgore Jr. She loved her children with all her heart and soul. She was very proud of her children and her loss is deeply felt.

Joyce leaves to mourn her children: Candace Marie Preston-Smith (Aaron Smith), Bobby Charles Kilgore Jr. Her grandchildren: Keion Scott, the quadruplets: Cassadee, Aaliyah, Skyler, and Aaron Jr. "AJ" Smith. Her siblings: Patricia Preston (Lee Borden), Norris Preston (Denise Preston), Nichole Preston, and Stephanie Preston (TJ Fry) all of Omaha, NE. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
