Juanita Jo Vanfossen

Juanita Jo (Lovett) VanFossen, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born October 5, 1932 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Luther and Bessie (Sturgill) Lovett. She married Alfred J. VanFossen on May 9, 1953 and they raised five children in Calcutta, Ohio. Juanita was a long-time school bus driver for the Beaver Local School District in Lisbon, Ohio, a past-madam president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and former member of the East Liverpool Moose Lodge. After retiring in 1992, Juanita moved to Bellevue, Nebraska to be closer to Tammy and June where she became active with the Nebraska Center on Aging and was a Senior Companion for many years. Juanita touched many lives and found happiness in helping others. Juanita is well known to her family and friends as someone who will always be there for you no matter what the situation is and, if you are in her house, you are family.

Juanita was the last surviving child of Luther and Bessie Lovett and was also preceded in death by her son, Randy and daughter, Teresa. Juanita is survived by one son, John (Linda) VanFossen of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, two daughters, Tammy Slachetka of Bellevue, Nebraska, June Rinner of Elk City, Oklahoma, and daughter-in-law, Mary VanFossen of Stroud, Oklahoma.

Grandchildren include Joey (Heather) VanFossen of Tulsa Oklahoma, Danny (Sara) VanFossen of Chandler, Oklahoma, Kevin (Elexa) VanFossen of Davenport, Oklahoma, and Dawn VanFossen of Stroud, Oklahoma, Ethan VanFossen of Stroud, Oklahoma, Nytera (George) Banks of Jupiter, Florida, Neicia Anderson, Kansas City, Missouri, Naolanani (Michael) Hamilton of Lake Lynn, Pennsylvania, and Alycia (David) Quaid of Annandale, Virginia and Alfred (Trisha) VanFossen of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Angel (Josh) Plueger of Omaha, Nebraska, Jarrod (Lynsie) Slachetka of Astoria, New York, Nathan Slachetka of Manhattan, New York, Rachel Nimmer of Bellevue, Nebraska, Trevor Slachetka of Bellevue, Nebraska, Jacob (Dria) Rinner of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Viridian Rinner of LaVista, Nebraska. Juanita was also blessed with 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Juanita will be held at a later date.
