It is with shock and sadness that we have to inform family, friends and loved ones of the passing of our
grooviest, energetic, fun-loving aunt, Kit Barrett. She was one in a million to us.
Our “Dear Aunty Kit” (as she jokingly requested to be addressed – which never stuck ), meant so
much to my sister and I growing up. We looked up to her as one of the coolest Aunt’s out there.
Traveling all over, working with Hollywood Stars on movie sets, wearing the hippest outfits, and
introducing us to some of the best music. R.E.M, Red Hot Chili Peppers, My Morning Jacket, The English
Beat, to name a few, will forever be bands that ignite such nostalgia for her when we hear their music.
‘Kitty-Kat’, our endearing name for her now a-days, was so in love with our kids. Every opportunity she
had to hang out with them, she was there, full of energy and committed to playing whatever games they
wished to play. We believe one of the last things she did before passing was Christmas present shop for
each of our kids because of the unwrapped presents we discovered. These last gifts from her this
Christmas will forever have such significance.
We could go on and on about her passions and just how cool of human she was. We loved our Kitty-Kat
so much and we hope she felt that love. Her absence from our life moving forward will always be there,
but our memories of her, and with her, will forever be kept in our hearts.
