Katie M. Jones

Katie was born in Suntag, Mississippi to Randolf and Eula B Alexander.

Ms. Katie, as she is known in the neighborhood, worked for a Downtown department store as an elevator operator. Afterwards for 35 years she went to work for Empire Fire Marine Insurance Company at their 1624 Douglas location, as a receptionist on a large (at least to her) switchboard. She was later promoted to the coding department just as the company moved to West Omaha and changed their name to Zurich. She drove back and forth from this location until her retirement.

With this new lifestyle she enjoyed sleeping in late, cooking and watching sports. From 6:30 pm-7 pm she stayed glued to the television watching Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud nightly.

Katie is preceded in death by Son, John C. Jones Jr., Sister, Lona Mae(James) Hill, Brothers, James (Lea Ora) and Luther (Inez) Alexander.

She is survived by Daughter, Cynthia (CJ) Jones (Omaha) and Brother Arzell Alexander (Chicago Illinois). Katie leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends (Cuban and Italian daughters) to keep her memory strong.
