Kenneth LeRoy Carter, born on March 12, 1947, in Valentine, Nebraska, passed away on September 21, 2024, at the age of 77. Kenny grew up in Omaha, Nebraska with his hearing-impaired, single, mother of three in the 1950s. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't provide for him and Kenny spent his childhood at the Omaha Home for Boys.
He bravely served in the military and, upon returning to Omaha, worked as a taxi driver from the 1970s until 2010. Kenny was known for his captivating stories about his time as a cab driver in Omaha. He also had a passion for music and comedy, often writing and performing his pieces for anyone willing to listen and at open mic nights. An avid thrifter and art collector, Kenny amassed an extensive collection of works from Omaha artists, primarily from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Kenny was a source of positive energy and love. He was deeply loved. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Doris Carter. He is survived by his friends who love him and remember him fondly, and the world he made better by being in it. The Ken Carter Art Collection Exhibition will be displayed once a venue is secured.
