Leberta Lampkin Smith was born May 9th, 1924 to John Earl and Elvira Baker Lampkin in Anguilla Missippi. She was the youngest daughter of nine children and at the age of 14 accepted Christ in her life as Lord and Saviour. Leberta was a graduate of Rose Hill High School,well respected in her community and admired for her tenacity.
In 1950 Leberta married John Cecil Smith in Springfield Mo and relocated to Omaha Ne. Unto this union were 12 children. Leberta was employed by St Vincent Home for the elderly as a Nursing Assistant before deciding to go full time as "CEO" of the the Smith Family household. Leberta was a true humanitarian, volunteering time with the March of Dimes for many years.She was long time member of Corinth Baptist Church. She loved music"Marvin Gaye" and dancing, and danced until she loss the mobility to do so.She enjoyed baseball and football especially the Corn Huskers.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Earl and Elvira Lampkin.Husband John C.Smith,sons Harry J.and Leonard T.Smith, daughters Beverly A, Judy G. and Felisa K Smith. Sister Rena, brothers Johnny, Jack, Cardell, James, Jay and Authur Lampkin. Also preceded in death by great grand daughter DeStacia, great great grand daughter Kenacia, great grandsons Mecca and Emirre Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memory children Barbara(William) Earl(Kathy) Marie,Ella,James,Charles and Randy(Angie)Smith In addition 27 grand children, 74 Great rand children and 30 great great grand children as well as nieces,nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
