Lennie Spady

Lennie Gene Spady, aged 73, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born on January 25, 1951, to Harold and Donna Spady, in Imperial, Nebraska. He graduated from Chase County High School in 1969 and married Teri Smith in 1973. They made their home and raised their four sons in Imperial. They recently moved to McCook, Nebraska. 

An accomplished carpenter by trade, Lennie's skill and passion for his work were evident in every project he undertook. His hands shaped wood into beautiful creations, reflecting his meticulous nature and commitment to excellence as evidenced by the many homes he touched in some way throughout Chase County. 

Beyond his trade, Lennie’s dedication to his family was evident throughout the years. He shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife Teri, building three homes and completely remodeling another while creating many cherished memories over all those years. Lennie was a proud father and grandfather enjoying taking his boys hunting and fishing in their younger years, coaching baseball, and then making memories teaching his grandsons to drive and following their love of sports. 

Lennie's life was also deeply rooted in his faith. He had a profound love for the Bible, drawing strength and guidance from its teachings throughout his life.

Lennie was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Donna, brothers-in-law Gary Greeley and Steve Smith, and son Adam, whose memory he cherished deeply, 

Lennie is survived by his wife, Teri, sons Troy, Nick (Leah), and Jon (Amber), daughter-in-law Lynn, siblings Garry (Sharon), Dawanna Greeley, Dwight, Kyle (Dana), grandchildren Mason (Danae), Tyler, Trevor, Trea, Toby, and Daisy, mother-in-law Rosie Molzahn, brothers-in-law Mike (Ann) Smith, Dick (Susie) Smith, sister-in-law Peggy Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Lennie Spady's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, craftsmanship, and faith.

Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024. A celebration of life will immediately follow from 12-4 p.m. in the Nutrien building at the Chase County Fairgrounds. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date.
