Leslie Lee "Lila" Carter, age 55, passed away on Tuesday January 4, 2022 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born March 3, 1966 in Omaha, NE to Mary Carter. Lila attended schools in the Omaha Public School District and attended Northwest High School. Lila worked as a childcare provider. She was a loving person and a friend to many. She was an articulate writer who enjoyed life. She most of all loved being around family. Lila was a life of the heart. She found great love, loyalty, tenderness, bravery and beauty in all its varied stages. Lila was an amazing, loving woman who lived her life with dignity and strength. She will be sorely missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to know and love. Her compassion for others transcended ethnicity, religion, gender or age. She spoke and acted from a position of fearlessness, from the raw openness of her heart and soul. She is at rest now in God's grace.
She was preceded in death by her brother Anthony "AC" Carter and grandparents Beatrice Blockman- Carter and Everett Carter Sr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving mother, Mary Carter- Omaha, NE; children Victor Donald Jr. (Dominique) -Omaha, NE, Candis Carter- Birmingham, AL, Brandon Jones- Omaha, NE, Briana McCreary -Omaha, NE; siblings Carlos Carter (Shekenna)- Omaha, NE, Frankie Carter (James) -Jacksonville, FL, Vincent Carter- Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Lila will truly be missed by many. She loved fiercely and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that Lila is now at peace surrounded by light
