Luther Martin Boyd

January 11, 1940 — October 21, 2022

Luther Marvin Boyd began his earthly journey on January, 11, 1940 in Beggs, Oklahoma. He was the 3rd child of 11 born to the late David and Jessie Boyd. He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters and three brothers. He was educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma Public School System.

He accepted Christ at an early age in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 1960, he united with the Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. DJ. Green and continued to serve under the late Rev. Felix Jones. Luther served in various ministries through out the years, including the Environmental Service ministry. Luther was extremely proud to serve as the co-chairperson, with his wife beside him on several occasions for St Paul Baptist Church, Annual Mens & Womens Day. He was united in holy matrimony to Vylene Knowles and during this marriage they chose to raise and care for Brayln Wax.

Luther was a hard worker, always extending a helping hand to anyone in need. He and his wife always opened their hearts and home to everyone. He was employed at Nathan Hale Magnet School for 29 years from which he retired. In 2006 he and his wife moved to Tupelo, Mississippi. He united with the Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Runney Patterson Luther still served at Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Melvin Lewis until he and in his wife moved back to Omaha, Nebraska in 2021 and reunited back with the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Dylon T. Young. You could count on Luther sitting on the center aisle of the church with a (BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE).

Luther transitioned to his heavenly life on Friday, October 21, 2022. He leaves to cherish amazing memories, a wife of 61 years Vylene; sons, Kevin L. (Whitney) Frost of Atlanta, GA, Delangelo (Marquita) Frost of Omaha, Nebraska, Brayln Wax of Tupelo, Mississippi; sisters, Mary Brown and Christine Boyd Milton (Regionald) of Omaha, Nebraska, Charlene Andrews and Theresa Fields of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Herman Boyd of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother-in-love Louis Sanders, Sr., of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-laws, Luberta Harris, Jessie (Jerome) Sebeastain, Sr., of Omaha, Nebraska Daisey Fields of Tupelo, Mississippi; brothers-in-laws William (Irma) of Chicago, Illinois, and Leon Shack of Tupelo, Mississippi, five grandchildren, Kennedi Frost, Avah Frost, Myles Frost, Delaney Frost and Jayla Terrell; godchildren Jay Terrell, Marcus Cunningham, Deon Williams, Kenneth Pinkard, Briana McCray and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church family of Omaha, Nebraska and Rising Star Baptist Church family of Tupelo, Mississippi.
