Marcellus Jamar Austin was born October 24, 1978 in Kankakee, Illinois to Corliss and Michael. Marcellus was the oldest of 4 children. Marcellus attended elementary and high school in Kankakee, Illinois. He played basketball in high school. After graduation Marcellus went to Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi where he pursued a career in broadcasting. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 2015 where he resided with family. Marcellus worked as a customer service representative for Dell Services and MetLife.
Marcellus loved family. In his free time he would create beats and make music. Marcellus loved to BBQ and was a great cook. He was the life of the party and loved to dance. In his younger years Marcellus played the drums in the Kankakee Community Choir.
Marcellus departed his life on September 6, 2021 at UNMC. He was preceded in death by grandparents Pastor Richard (Ella Mae) Austin and Minnie Hodges; nephew Diante Austin; uncle Eugene Hodges; and Clarence Johnson Jr.
Marcellus leaves to cherish mother Corliss (Jesse) Lokey; father Michael Hodges; children Imani, Makayla, and Amir Austin; siblings Cara, Clarence III, and Claneta Johnson, Myron, Ebony, Micheal, Ashley, Latisha, and China Hodges; grandson Princeton King; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
