Margaret Leora Hettinger

Margaret "Marty" Hettinger, age 80, passed away in Omaha, NE, on September 1, 2022, after a two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born June 4, 1942 to the late Raymond and Elnora (Kiser) Lowry in Lyman, NE. Margaret lived the majority of her life in Mitchell, NE, graduating from Mitchell High School in 1960. While in the Valley, she worked more than 30 years in the Mitchell and Morrill Medical Clinics. Margaret enjoyed reading, crocheting, and painting. Her pride and joy was her family.


Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Gary Hettinger; son, Troy (Barbara) Hettinger and daughter, Dawn (Todd) Fuelberth; 5 grandchildren, John (Katie), Nicole, Ian, Rachel, and Colin; great-granddaughter, Eva; brothers, Dick and Roger; sister, Mona; and a host of family and friends.


Memorial service will be held at a later date in Mitchell, Nebraska. It was Marty's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the UNMC H.O.P.E Donation Program via Gary Hettinger. Please note on the memo line if you wish to contribute to the study.
