Marguerite E. Davis was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Haydee and Payton Crossley. She had a keen interest in the Bible at an early age. She was in the room listening to one of Jehovah’s Witnesses talk with her mother at the age of twelve and liked what she was hearing. When the Witness was leaving, she asked if she would study with her and the answer was yes. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of sixteen and continued in the preaching work up to the time of death.
One of her favorite scriptures to show people was Revelation 21:4 which reads, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Mom was faithful to the end and had full confidence in Jehovah’s promises.
She married Ollie Davis on October 3,1948, and they were blessed with ten children. She also worked various jobs from housekeeping, food preparation, and nurse’s aide. Mom was always a very energetic person, willing to help others whenever possible. Along with all of this she had the challenging job of teaching her ten children about the Kingdom and all the wonderful blessings it will bring. Even though this was a challenging job, with Jehovah and Jesus help and God’s word the Bible, most of us accepted it. Thank you, MOM! See you in paradise! Revelation 21:5, “Look, I am making all things new. Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Marguerite will lovingly be remembered by her surviving children: Lawrence (wife Charmine), Raymond (wife Sandra), Cynthia (husband Robert), William, Joyce (husband Irvin), Leon, Michael, Joseph, Dwayne and one brother Ernest Crossley. She has a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and dear friends who will miss her immensely.
Marguerite is preceded in death by her husband, Ollie J. Sr; and her son Ollie J. Jr; both parents Payton and Haydee Crossley; siblings, Helen Price, Joseph Crossley, Albert Crossley, Sonny Crossley, Catherine Jones and Shirley Harrison.
