Martin Long

Martin was born July 2, 1955, in Michigan, Indiana to H.C. Long and Dorothy Bernice (Reese) Long.  On March 7, 2024, he entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior at the age of 68 in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from LaPorte High School, LaPorte, IN in 1973. Marty married Lynn Louise Hutson on July 7, 1973, in New Buffalo, MI.  Marty graduated from Midwestern Baptist College and ordained as a Baptist minister in Pontiac, MI in May 1978. Marty’s family moved to Iowa/Nebraska where he served as a pastor of multiple church’s while working jobs to support his family in trucking and insurance. Marty and Lynn have three children, Melinda Marie Long Capello (Mac) of Bellevue, NE, Aaron H.C. Long (Keri) of LaVista, NE, and Jeremy Dale Long (Kala) of North Platte, NE.

Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Lee and Lillian (Rushing) Long and Glen A and Leona Marie (Morris) Reese and his father.  He is survived by his wife Lynn; three children; brothers, Jeffrey Allen Long and Jerry Wayne Long; and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on March 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Overland Hills Church, 11151 South 90th Street, Papillion, NE 68046. There will be a private graveside for immediate family at Voss Mohr Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marshall Drive Baptist Church, 4845 Marshall Dr, Omaha, NE 68137, for distribution to missionaries Dan and Christina Grings project funds.
