The Vandivers relocated to Omaha in 1975 after Mildred's husband retired from the military. During the 1980's and 1990's, she worked as an educational aide in the Omaha Public School District. Mildred and her husband owned and operated a small but successful business named I Remember Antiques, located in the Benson Business District.
